Artwork & Intellectual Property Policy
Last updated: 24 August 2026
Sick Binder allows customers to upload their own artwork, photographs, logos, illustrations and other designs for use on personalised products.
This policy explains your responsibilities when supplying artwork to us and the limited permission you give us to use that artwork to manufacture your order.
1. Your responsibility for uploaded artwork
By uploading or supplying artwork to Sick Binder, you confirm that:
- you own the artwork and the necessary intellectual property rights; or
- you have obtained permission, a licence or other lawful authority to reproduce the artwork for the purpose of your order.
You must not upload artwork simply because it is available online, appears in a search engine, has been posted on social media, or is otherwise publicly accessible.
This applies to copyright, trade marks and other intellectual property rights belonging to third parties.
2. Confirmation before ordering
Before a personalised product can be added to your cart, you will be asked to confirm:
“I confirm that I own this artwork or have permission to reproduce it, and I authorise Sick Binder to reproduce it solely to make my order.”
We may retain a record of this confirmation together with information relating to the personalised design and order.
3. Permission you give Sick Binder
You retain ownership of any rights you hold in artwork that you upload.
By submitting artwork for a personalised order, you give Sick Binder a limited, non-exclusive permission to:
- receive and securely store the artwork;
- resize, crop, position or otherwise process it as necessary for production;
- create previews and production files;
- reproduce the artwork on the product you have ordered; and
- retain records reasonably required for order fulfilment, customer service, fraud prevention, legal compliance or dispute resolution.
This permission is limited to what is reasonably necessary to process and fulfil your order.
Submitting artwork does not transfer ownership of your copyright or other intellectual property rights to Sick Binder.
4. Third-party artwork, brands and characters
Artwork may be protected even if it does not display a copyright notice.
Examples of material that may require permission include:
- characters from films, television programmes, games, comics or books;
- sports club badges and league logos;
- company names and logos;
- branded product artwork;
- album covers and music artwork;
- professional photography;
- illustrations created by another artist;
- artwork purchased or downloaded under a licence that does not allow reproduction on products.
It is your responsibility to check that the permission or licence you rely on allows the intended use.
5. Our right to review or refuse artwork
We are not required to independently verify ownership of every file uploaded by a customer.
However, we reserve the right to review supplied artwork and may pause, refuse or cancel personalisation where we reasonably believe that:
- the artwork may infringe another person's intellectual property rights;
- the customer may not have the necessary permission;
- a rights holder has raised a credible complaint;
- evidence of permission has been requested but not provided; or
- fulfilling the order could expose Sick Binder or another person to legal risk.
Where appropriate, we may ask you to provide evidence showing that you are entitled to use the artwork.
6. Intellectual property complaints
If you believe that artwork being processed by Sick Binder infringes intellectual property rights that you own or represent, please contact us as soon as possible.
Your notice should include, where possible:
- your name and contact details;
- details of the copyright, trade mark or other right concerned;
- identification of the artwork or order concerned;
- an explanation of why you believe the use is unauthorised; and
- evidence that you own the rights or are authorised to act for the rights holder.
Please send intellectual property enquiries to:
info@sickbinder.co.uk
We may suspend production while a credible complaint is investigated.
7. Customer artwork and our designs
This policy does not give customers any rights in Sick Binder branding, product photography, website content, product templates, personaliser software, graphics or other material owned or licensed by Sick Binder.
Likewise, Sick Binder does not claim ownership of customer artwork merely because it has been uploaded to our personaliser.
8. Legal rights
Nothing in this policy excludes or restricts any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded, including applicable consumer rights.
This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Refund Policy.
If you are unsure whether you have permission to reproduce particular artwork, you should obtain permission from the rights holder or seek independent legal advice before placing an order.
